In this video, I sat down with Rabbi Brian Schneider from Yerushalayim to talk all about the ancient and beautiful mitzvah of trumos and maasros—what it is, why we do it, and how to actually make it part of your life.
Rabbi Brian Schneider started out as an Industrial Engineer at Cornell and a software guy at a healthcare tech startup — but in 2003 he packed it all up to chase a different kind of dream: full-time Torah study in Jerusalem. After seven years of learning (and plenty of strong coffee), he earned rabbinic ordination at Aish HaTorah and spent the next decade leading Jewish education programs in Israel and the US.
Today, Rabbi Brian is the COO of Justifi: Adventure with Purpose — a non-profit running Jewish service trips across Southeast Asia, India, Africa, and Latin America. He helps students and adults turn travel into a mission of personal growth and global impact.
When he’s not bouncing between continents, you’ll find him in Jerusalem with his amazing wife Shalva and their four kids — learning, teaching, hiking, and squeezing every drop of meaning out of life.
