INGREDIENTS:
- 2-3 medium yellow onions, peeled, root in tact
FOR THE DRY MIX:
- 2 cups flour
- 4 tsp paprika
- 2 tsp granulated garlic
- 2 tso kosher salt
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
FOR THE WET MIX:
- 1/3 cup corn starch
- 1&1/2 cup flour
- 2 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 (24oz) bottle beer
Cooking steps
Step 1
Place a medium pot filled 1/3 of the way with oil over medium high heat.
Step 2
Combine all dry in ingredients in one bow, and all wet ingredients in a second bowl.
Step 3
Cut onions throughs enter (from top to root). Turn 90 degrees and cut again.Cut each quarter into thirds. This should give you 12 wedges (some wedges may separate and that’s totally fine.) Add onions to bowl with dry mixture. Gently toss to coat onion wedges. Use your fingers to remove from flour shaking off any excess and place into the bowl with the wet mixture. Gently fold to coat onion wedges in batter.
Step 4
When oil is hot remove one at a time (to make sure they’re fully coated) from wet batter and place into oil. Add as many as you can without over crowding the pot. Fry for 3-4 minutes until lightly golden. Remove and place on cooling rack for a few minutes. Serve hot and enjoy! your fingers to remove onion from dry mixture shaking off any excess. Add to wet mixture. Mix gently. Make sure onions are fully coated. Add one at time to pot. Drunk. Batches so you don’t over crowd. Fry for 3-4 min until golden and your house smells like the best onions ever.
Step 5
Remove. Place on cooling rack and that’s it!! These are so flavorful they do not need a dip! If you must, think honey mustard, ranch or buffalo! My favorite way is to load them in to a burger. Mmmmm. However you do it, hope you enjoy!
